Snowmen Fall from Heaven Unassembled

I have always heard the saying "Snowmen fall from heaven unassembled" and actually, it's true!  They're such simple things...three balls of snow and some sticks stuck in the side.  So why on earth do I have such difficulty assembling one?!? Yes its true, I have snowman assembling issues!! I blame it on the fact that very, VERY rarely did I have the chance to learn to do this when I was a child growing up in southern California! Thank goodness for Adam who can successfully teach our son to build snowmen during his childhood!  Luckily, as a child I did play in the sand quite a bit so I am still able to build some things in the snow!  On this day Aiden and I made a snow turtle and lots of snowballs that we threw at Lilly!  The weather was mild so we were able to stay out for awhile and play...but that also meant that what we had worked so hard on didn't hang around for long.  A day or two later our turtle and the little snowman daddy made were nowhere to be found!

Lilly girl loves the snow...Rosie not so much!

We're thankful for the snow we've had and even more thankful that there hasn't been TOO much...but we'd be REALLY thankful if Spring would finally make its appearance! We've caught Spring Fever around here and can't hardly wait to spend more time outside!

Sweet Preparations

Its almost Valentines Day and I've been hard at work in the kitchen making sweets for my sweets!  Aiden loves to push a chair over and help with anything I may be doing, especially taste testing!  On this night we made heart sugar cookies and decorated them with red frosting.  They didn't last long...but we've made more treats since and still have more to go!  Here are some cookie pics...

...let the frosting begin...

...just checking to make sure they'll be good before we continue...

...sharin' the love with daddy...

...he could tell ya how good these cookies are...but his mouf is so full!...

Perfect Pancakes

Our wonderful friends Sarah & Deke gave us some homemade pancake supplies over the holidays.  When we received it, my mind quickly went to a happy place and making ooey gooey sticky sweet memories as a family...and then of course I was quickly brought back to reality by the siren of the firetruck Aiden received from them also! :)

Some mornings I find my self throwing a cereal bar or a handful of cheerios at Aiden and calling it good for breakfast...but my goal the last few months has been to make an actual sit down-eat together-family breakfast at least once a week.  With Adam leaving for work so early in the morning, this usually happens on either Saturday or Sunday most weeks.  These pancake supplies were perfect for this two weekends ago!  Aiden is usually a famished beast when he wakes up but I was pleasantly surprised when he was willing to help and wait patiently this morning for the perfect (pajama made) pancakes!

Mmm Mmm...
Did Aiden choose the maple or blueberry syrup?...

Blueberry of course!! And I think the look says it all...
"Mom this is delicious!"

Needless to say, he shoveled in every last bite...

I'm so thankful for the memories made and I'm grateful that there is still enough left over for another morning! We are looking forward to trying the maple syrup with the next batch!
(Thanks again Sarah & Deke...I will probably be calling for the ingredients for the batter when we run out!)

Spare Me

On one of the last days that we were in Il, we were visiting with Papa and Gigi and somehow at some point Adam and I were talking about our recent bowling adventure and how we ended up not taking Aiden that day but that we were sure he would have loved it.  Well, I'll spare you the boring details and just get to it...we ended up taking Aiden bowling for the first time that day!  He had so much fun trying to figure out what we were all doing and trying to get the hang of it himself!  "What do you mean, mom? That I get to throw a ball? Inside?  And try to make a mess with those things that are all standing so nicely?"
